WILLIAM(6) 1820-prior to 1870
Born in Logan Co., KY, William, the fifth child of Samuel and Nancy Elizabeth Orr Chenoweth, married in Van Buren Co., IA. at the age of twenty-one, to Susanna Smith, daughter of David Smith. Only recently has this line been restored to the family knowledge. William and family were in Missouri in the 1850 and 1860 Censuses, and clearly can be identified. He and Susana then moved to Iowa, and because of age discrepancies the picture became somewhat confused, causing Richard and Shirley Harris to list various parts of the family in their unknown section of their book. Slowly by contacts and more and careful Census readings we have been able to restore most of the line to the database. A recent contact with Dorothy Jean Cocking has confirmed our analysis and added a good bit of detail to the family. It is believed that William died before the 1870 Census while Susana lived to the age of 87, dying in April 11, 1906. The family is found primarily in area of Des Moines, IA.
