I really don't know all that much about Holts. My grandmother, born Minnie Jane Holt, came from Missouri, by train in 1913 to Seattle to marry my grandfather, Harry Edward Chenoweth, whom she had betrothed in Missouri. Her father, Napoleon B. Holt, or "Nap" was a carpenter and quite a character, I am told. He had one son and six daughters, five of whom he named with a given name beginning with the letter 'M': Miranda Idella, Myrtle May, Lillie Maude, Mable Elizabeth Mable, and Minnie Jane. The last one was named Thet. He said that he had gone to the woods to think of a name that was suitable for her, and he had thought and he had thet and thought and thet, but couldn't come up with a name, so he just called her Thet. I don't think my great aunt Thet liked this name, but she always went by it.
A while ago I ran across a third cousin, Hollis Davison, on the internet. He gave me background information on Napoleon's parents and slowly we are piecing together this Holt family with the help of Hollis and my Uncle, Harry Holt Chenoweth. This January Steve Holt found us and pushed us back one generation to Robert. He also was my source for the Holt coat-of-arms now displayed. I must confess, I know little about the Holts in general and little beyond the names displayed here. If the tie is not identified on this page, I probably can't help. All my time is taken up with the Chenoweth Family. For now I'm keeping it simple. Ten generations of Holts:
